Maruti Suzuki To Unveil First EV eVitara In January
Maruti Suzuki will showcase its eVitara electric SUV at Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 in January next year.

Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. teased its first production-ready electric vehicle eVitara electric SUV for Indian markets on Friday. The much-awaited vehicle by the leading carmaker will be showcased at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, set to be held in New Delhi from Jan. 17 to 22 next year.
Suzuki Motor Corp. has already unveiled the eVitara SUV at Milan, Italy. We will have to wait for a month to see if the European specifications are carried over the Indian version of eVitara. Maruti mentioned that eVitara will be a global model manufactured in India for the world.
The eVitara SUV is underpinned by the HEARTECT-e platform specially designed for battery-operated electric vehicles. It features a lightweight structure with high-voltage protection. Suzuki claims that the short overhang makes for spacious interiors, while the main floor eliminates the underfloor members to maximise battery capacity.

Suzuki has unveiled the eVitara with electric four-wheel drive function, named ALLGRIP-e, featuring two independent electric axles at the front and rear. The SUV also has a Trail mode for driving on rough terrains, which works by applying brakes to spinning tires and distributing drive torque to the opposite tyre.
eVitara is presently equipped with two battery capacities — 49 kWh and 61 kWh. Both configurations have a front-placed, two-wheel drive system, whereas the latter gets the four-wheel drive option.
The two-wheel drive system can put out 106 kW with a maximum torque of 189 Nm on the 49 kWh battery pack. The same drive system delivers 128 kW power on the 61 kWh option at the same torque. The four-wheel drive system with the bigger battery pack puts out 128 kW on the front axle and 48 kW on the rear, with 300 Nm of torque. eVitara has a single-speed electric drive transmission across its variants.
Depending on the trim, weight can vary from 1,702 kg to 1,899 kg.
After the announcement, Maruti Suzuki share price went up to Rs 11,077 apiece, before cooling off to trade 0.59% higher at Rs 11,020 as of 11:24 a.m. The benchmark Nifty 50 was trading 0.09% lower.
