Hurun Global Rich List: Gautam Adani Emerges As India's Biggest Wealth Gainer
Gautam Adani's total wealth rose 13%, or around Rs 1 lakh crore, to Rs 8.4 lakh crore, making him the second richest person in India.

Gautam Adani, the chairperson of ports-to-power conglomerate Adani Group, emerged as the "biggest wealth gainer" in absolute terms in the Hurun Global Rich List 2025.
The list, released on Thursday, showed that Adani and family's wealth grew by around Rs 1 lakh crore as compared to the time when the last Hurun list was released.
The 62-year-old business magnate's overall wealth rose to Rs 8.4 lakh crore, marking a yearly jump of 13%, it said. He remains the second richest person of India, and 18th most wealthy person globally.
Adani, who started as a commodity trader, now heads a conglomerate whose business encompasses renewables, ports, airports, mining, power generation, media and cement. He briefly held the title of richest person in Asia in 2024.
Notably, the Hurun Global Rich List 2025 ranked 3,442 billionaires from across the globe, up from 3,278 last year, from a total of 71 countries. The number of billionaires increased by 5%, and their total wealth increased by 13%.
New additions to the list add up to 387 billionaires, with 96 from the United States, and 91 from China, followed by 45 from India.
On the other hand, 177 individuals globally lost their billionaire status, with China accounting nearly half of them.
India's Most Wealthy
In India, Roshni Nadar of HCL Group became the first woman to make it into the top 10 list of most wealthy persons, after her father Shiv Nadar transferred a 47% stake in HCL Corp. to her, Hurun said in a release.
With a total wealth of Rs 3.5 lakh crore, the 43-year-old is listed as the third richest individual, behind Gautam Adani and Reliance Industries Ltd. Chairman Mukesh Ambani.
Ambani heads the list with a total wealth of Rs 8.6 lakh crore. However, his wealth has declined by 13% as compared to the preceding year, as per the report.
Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd.'s Dilip Shanghvi is at fourth position with wealth of Rs 2.5 lakh crore, followed by Wipro Ltd. founder Aziz Premji at fifth (Rs 2.2 lakh crore). They are followed by Aditya Birla Group's Kumar Mangalam Birla and Serum Institute of India Ltd.'s Cyrus S Poonawalla, who are tied with wealth of Rs 2 lakh crore.
The eighth position is held by Bajaj India's Nirav Bajaj (Rs 1.6 lakh crore), followed RJ Corp.'s Ravi Jaipuria and D-Mart owner Radhakishan Damani, who are tied with wealth of Rs 1.4 lakh crore.
