Ashok Leyland Wins Rs 346-Crore Order To Supply Passenger Bus Chassis To Tamil Nadu
Ashok Leyland is expected to deliver 1,475 BSVI diesel fuel type passenger bus chassis by May 2025.

Ashok Leyland Ltd. on Thursday received an order worth Rs 345.6 crore for the supply of 1,475 BSVI diesel fuel type passenger bus chassis to Tamil Nadu State Transport Corp.
The order has been awarded post-normal tender process with standard business prudent norms, and there are no adverse terms or conditions under the contract, an exchange filing said.
The company is expected to deliver the product by May 2025.
The chassis refers to the rolling framework of the bus, excluding the powertrain. It is the structure on which the bus body is mounted, but it does not include components like the engine, transmission, driveshaft, or other running gear.
The Hinduja Group commercial vehicle maker offers Garud and Lynx brands under the bus chassis category, as per its website.
Besides, Ashok Leyland announced that its step-down subsidiary LLC Ashok Leyland Russia has been voluntarily liquidated.
In October, the company won India’s largest order for electric trucks amid a government initiative to electrify cargo transport in the country.
The Chennai-based truckmaker will supply 180 electric trucks to Billion Electric Mobility Pvt., an e-mobility-as-a-service platform of the company that operates ChargeZone EV charging stations. The deal, valued at Rs 150 crore, will see Ashok Leyland deliver its 14- and 19-tonne BOSS electric trucks and a 55-tonne electric tractor by the fourth quarter of the ongoing fiscal.
Ashok Leyland shares closed 0.52% lower at Rs 229.85 apiece, ahead of the announcement, compared to 0.3% decline in the benchmark BSE Sensex.
