While most CEOs would not publicly congratulate a competitor for beating them to a prestigious contract or a new custormer, Anand Mahindra, Mahindra Group's Chairman and Managing Director showed a sense of sportsmanship after Tata Motors announced that Energy Efficiency Services Ltd (EESL), under the administration of the Ministry of Power will procure 10,000 electric vehicles (EVs) from Tata Motors. The company has bagged the order following an international competitive bidding, pipping Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) and Nissan. The contract valued at ₹ 1120 crore is said to be world's largest single electric vehicle procurement.
