Air India has announced it will provide interim payment of Rs 25 lakh to the families of each person who lost their life, as well as the survivor of the tragic plane crash in Ahmedabad. This is in addition to the support of Rs 1 crore or approximately 85,000 British pounds announced by Tata Sons earlier this week.
On June 12, a London-bound Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft crashed soon after taking off from the Ahmedabad airport, killing 241 people on board, and several others on the ground as it plunged into a medical college complex.
"Air India stands in solidarity with the families of the passengers who tragically lost their lives in the recent accident. Our teams on the ground are doing everything possible to extend care and support during this incredibly difficult time," the airline said in an official statement.

As part of our…Air India is also in the process of completing precautionary safety checks on Boeing 787 aircrafts, as directed by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation. "We will complete all checks within the timeline prescribed by the regulator," said Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Campbell Wilson.
Air India continues to fully cooperate with these investigation, he said. "As has been confirmed by the authorities, the aircraft's data recorder has been recovered, which will form part of the official investigation and Air India continues to fully cooperate with these investigation," he said.

June 14, 2025Wilson shared that the process of reuniting the next of kin with their loved ones and personal effect has begun. "Our teams are working closely with the families and authorities to help the reunification process, and where appropriate, with repatriation. This is an emotional process and we ask families to be given space," Wilson said in his official statement.
Over 200 caregivers are now in Ahmedabad, with each family assigned dedicated assistance, along with access to counselling and other services, he said.
