Aim To Have Terminal 2 Of Navi Mumbai Airport Operational By FY29, Says Adani Airports CEO
Domestic flights will commence from the must-awaited Navi Mumbai airport in May

The terminal 1 of Navi Mumbai airport will be inaugurated on April 17, while terminal 2 is expected to be operational by the end of the financial year 2028-29, Adani Airport Holdings Ltd. CEO Arun Bansal said on Sunday.
"The construction has begun on Terminal 2, which will add an additional capacity of 30 million passengers," Bansal told NDTV Profit. "Aim to have that operational by end of 2028-29 financial year."
Domestic flights will commence from the must-awaited Navi Mumbai airport in May, he said. Terminal 1 is designed to accommodate 20 million passengers.
An IndiGo A320 aircraft operated a "successful" validation flight to Navi Mumbai International airport on Sunday, becoming the first commercial airliner to touch down on the new runway.
“This is a momentous day for Navi Mumbai International Airport," Bansal said. "The successful completion of the validation flight is a major milestone, and we are now one step closer to operationalising the airport, prioritising safety at every step."
The commercial aircraft's landing confirms the effective operation of Instrument Approach Procedures. IAP is a series of predetermined maneuvers that guide pilots to safely land an aircraft when approaching an airport. This includes altitude, direction, and speed to avoid obstacles, especially when the weather isn’t clear.
"We are grateful to the DGCA and all the agencies involved in making the validation flight trial successful," Bansal said. "NMIA will not only offer world-class aviation facilities, but it will also enable the overall development of the region.”
