Residents had reported hearing fresh explosions in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Doha, and Manama today, as Iran continues to fire missiles at countries in the Middle East where US troops are stationed.
This comes after Iranian Supreme Leader was killed in the joint US-Israeli military strike, according to a confirmation issued by Tehran early on Sunday. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has vowed to avenge his death by launching the "heaviest offensive in history".
US President Donald Trump, however, has warned Iran of more deadly strikes if it attempts to retaliate. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has appealed the Iranian public to hit the streets against the incumbent government. He has described the current unrest as an opportunity to topple the Islamic regime.

US President Donald Trump on Sunday through a post on TruthSocial said that US destroyed and sunk 9 Iranian Naval Ships.

US President Donald Trump said on Sunday that Iran's new leadership wants to talk to him and that he has agreed, according to an interview with the Atlantic magazine.
"They want to talk, and I have agreed to talk, so I will be talking to them. They should have done it sooner. They should have given what was very practical and easy to do sooner. They waited too long," Trump said in the interview from his Florida residence.

A small oil tanker, which appears to be sanctioned by the US for helping Iran export fuels, was targeted off Oman's northern coast, the first maritime attack since war broke out in the Middle East over the weekend.
Oman's Maritime Security said the Skylight tanker was targeted north of Khasab port, according to a post on X. There are two vessels with the name Skylight, but only one appears off the coast of Oman. That ship was sanctioned by the US last last year for being an “enabler of Iranian petroleum exports.”

Brent crude jumped 10% to about $80 a barrel over the counter on Sunday, oil traders said, while analysts predicted that prices could climb as high as $100 after U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran plunged the Middle East into a new war.
"While the military attacks are themselves supportive for oil prices, the key factor here is the closing of the Strait of Hormuz," said Ajay Parmar, director of energy and refining at ICIS.

OPEC agreed to resume oil production increases at a slightly accelerated pace as a conflict sparked by US-Israeli strikes on Iran threatened to bolster a rally in crude prices.

Concerns continue to mount over the safety of Indians stranded abroad amid tensions in the Middle East as tit-for-tat strikes continue with Iran on one side and US and Israel on the other. The conflict has engulfed a major part of the region, home to many Indians and also a major transit point for travellers going to or from India to farther parts of the world.

" While the family is safe, they are afraid that the situation might turn bad after the attacks," he said.
Saudi Arabia's foreign ministry in a statement on X said it summoned the Iranian ambassador on Sunday, a day after the kingdom accused Tehran of targeting its territory with strikes.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian today announced the interim leadership council formed after supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed in a US-Israel strike has started working on their important tasks.

The Diplomatic Adviser to the UAE President, Anwar Gargash, warned Iran to not target its neighbours, calling on the Islamic Republic to "return to reason" as its retaliatory attacks in the region entered their second day.
"The Iranian aggression against the Gulf states was a miscalculation, and it isolated Iran at a critical juncture. Your war is not with your neighbours," he said.

North Korea's foreign ministry spokesperson said in a statement that Israel's attacks on Iran and the US military operation were "illegal aggression" and a violation of national sovereignty, state media Korean Central News Agency reported on Sunday.
Iran has attacked an oil tanker passing through the Strait of Hormuz near the coast of Oman, as it retaliates with all its might to avenge the US and Israel's assassination of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
The Palau-flagged oil tanker was struck off Oman's Musandam Peninsula in an attack that followed drone strikes on the country's Duqm port. At least four were injured in the attack, said Oman's Maritime Security Centre (MSC).
The oil tanker, Skylight, was sailing with a 20-person crew, including 15 Indians and five Iranian citizens, according to the Oman MSC. The crew was evacuated after the attack that occurred five nautical miles from Khasab Port in Musandam.

"Due to multiple regional airspace closures, Emirates has temporarily suspended all operations to and from Dubai, up until 1500hrs UAE time on Monday, 2 March," the airlines said in a statement.
Fresh explosions were heard in Tehran on Sunday, a day after strikes in the city led to the death of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei among others. The Israeli military, in a social media post, said the fresh wave of attack targets the "heart of the capital".

The Israel Defence Force said it has dropped over 1,200 missiles on Iran over the past 24 hours, news agency Bloomberg reported.
Gold and silver are likely to open sharply higher on Monday, given the geopolitical risks, said Dharmesh Bhatia of Emirates Investment Bank, while speaking to NDTV Profit. The prices already surged on Friday, a day before the US and Israel launched strikes on Iran.
Devina Mehra, chairperson and managing director of First Global, told NDTV Profit that she thinks market participants should remain invested. The data from past two-to-three decades shows crashes don't last long, and market eventually recovers, she pointed out.
Iran's Interim Leadership Council will be formed on Monday, IRNA news agency reported Ali Larijani, the Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, as saying.
Market expert Ajay Bagga, while speaking to NDTV Profit, said his advise for investors would be that they should not buy on Monday, when the markets open. However, "don't sell either", he added.
The oil intensity in India's economy is lower, but since 85% of Indian crude comes from the Gulf region, there will be an impact, market expert Ajay Bagga said.
In the fifth wave of Operation True Promise4 in the Indian Ocean, the MSP ship, which was carrying ammunition for American vessels, was hit by four drones at the Jebel Ali anchorage and was completely disabled with damage and explosions, official social media accounts linked to the Iran government said.
"The American naval base in the Abdullah Mubarak area of Kuwait was hit by 4 ballistic missiles and 12 drones, and all the infrastructure was destroyed, and a large number of American forces were killed and injured," they added.
Also, the MST-class combat support ship, which was carrying fuel for American vessels in the Indian Ocean, was hit by Iranian Qadr 380 missiles.

"In view of the prevailing situation, the temporary suspension of select international flights that use Middle East airspace, has been extended until 2nd March 2026, 2359 hrs IST. Please refer to the list of cancelled flights on our website. This extension is a precautionary measure to ensure that we uphold the highest standards of safety for our customers and crew," IndiGo said in a statement.
Khamenei was not only the tallest leader of Iranians, but also of Shia Muslims worldwide. In recent years, several Sunni Muslims, particularly in South Asia, began viewing him as their top socio-religious leader despite sectoral differences. In India, demonstrations have already erupted in Srinagar, Anantnag, Kulgam, Kargil and Ashmaqam of J&K, and are also expected to be held in Uttar Pradesh's Lucknow and Telangana's Hyderabad.

"27 US bases in the region, along with the Tel Nof base, the General Command Headquarters of the Zionist Army in Hacariya, and the large defense industries complex in Tel Aviv, were among the targets attacked," the IRGC said.
"The armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran will not allow the sound of air raid sirens to cease in the occupied territories and American bases, and with successive and regretful slaps, they will carry out a different and harsh step of revenge," it added.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps will launch the "heaviest offensive in history" against Israel, the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) said, according to Bloomberg.
The Iranian Supreme Leader was killed in the US-Israeli strike on his workplace compound in Tehran, Iranian news agency Fars has reported.
"Due to airspace restrictions over Iran and parts of the Middle East, 410 flights of domestic carriers were cancelled on 28 February, and 444 flights are expected to be cancelled on 1 March. DGCA is maintaining close coordination with airlines to ensure full compliance with safety and operational regulations. Passengers are advised to check and confirm their flight status with the respective airlines before proceeding to the airport," the Indian Ministry of Civil Aviation said.

Iran has announced a 40-day mourning period after the death of Supreme Leader Khamenei, Chinese news agency Xinhua reported.
"The criminal and terrorist act of the malicious governments of the United States and the Zionist regime constitutes a clear violation of religious, moral, legal, and international norms. Therefore, the hand of vengeance of the Iranian nation, in imposing severe, decisive, and regret-inducing punishment upon the killers of the Imam of the Ummah, will not release them from its grasp," the statement added.

Iran has confirmed the demise of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. "Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Ali Khamenei martyred in US-Israeli attacks on Iran," the state-run Press TV said in a statement.
Oil shipping has largely paused in the Strait of Hormuz that links the oil-rich Persian Gulf to the open seas after the US and Israel bombed Iran, with Iranian media saying the waterway is “practically closed.”

Bahrain's Interior Ministry said in a statement that the country's international airport in Manama was damaged in a drone attack. However, no casualties were reported.
The airport came under attack after Iran launched missiles towards the US bases located in the country.
Iran's state-linked news agencies have categorically denied the reports of Ali Khamenei's death, claiming that he remains firmly in command, and is taking decisions related to Tehran's retaliation against the US and Israel.
At least two Iranian lawmakers have also rejected Trump and Netanyahu's claim of killing Khamenei, Al Jazeera reported. However, there has been no statement or footage officially issued to contradict Washington or Tel Aviv.

The death toll in Iran from Israel-US strikes rose to 200 people, Iran's state TV reported, citing the Red Crescent, according to Associated Press.

Iran’s Foreign Affairs Ministry said Israeli attacks this morning have targeted the country’s “territorial integrity and national sovereignty, including defensive infrastructure and non-military locations in various cities across the country.”
“The renewed military aggression by the United States and the Zionist regime against Iran constitutes a violation of international law and the principles of the United Nations Charter. The Islamic Republic of Iran considers this aggression a clear breach of international peace and security and emphasises that it reserves its legitimate right to respond decisively,” the ministry said in a statement.

Yemen's Iranian-backed Houthi rebels to resume attacks on shipping in the Red Sea corridor, two rebel officials have told news agency AP.

Iran is preparing for a "crushing response" to US and Israeli aggression, according to local media. The area near Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei's residence in the capital Tehran has been secured.
Chairman of the Parliament's National Security Committee said: "The end of these attacks is no longer with you (the enemy)."
US-Israel "have started path no longer in your control", said Head of Iran's Security Committee Ebrahi Azizi.
"Our aim is to eliminate threats from the Iranian regime," Donald Trump said in a video statement on Truth Social.

Iranian cities hit by joint US-Israel attacks, according to local media, are Tehran, Karaj and Tabriz.

Just hours ago, US President Donald Trump said the risk of a broader conflict in the Middle East is possible if the nuclear negotiations with Iran fails and the US chooses military option. "There's always a risk... It would be wonderful if they negotiate in good faith and conscience. But they are not getting there," he told reporters.
The remarks came amid ongoing talks between US and Iranian officials in Geneva, which mediators said would continue next week after no breakthrough was achieved. At the same time, Washington has significantly increased its military presence around Iran, one of the largest regional deployments in over two decades, comparable to levels seen before the Iraq War in 2003. The two countries resumed indirect talks on Tehran's nuclear programme in Oman earlier this month.
"We haven't made a final decision (on Iran). We're not exactly happy with the way they're negotiating. They cannot have nuclear weapons," Trump said.
The Israel Defence Forces said sirens were sounded all throughout the country, with an advance instruction alert directly to cellular devices to stay within proximity to protected spaces. "This is a proactive alert to prepare the public for the possibility of missiles being launched toward the State of Israel. The IDF emphasizes that the public is requested to stay in proximity to protected spaces," a statement on X said.
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz declared a state of emergency as he announced the strike, and said the country expects to come under drone and missile attack in the immediate future, Bloomberg News reported. The country's airspace has been shut.
