Navy Chief To Skyroot: Build India’s Next-Gen Space Defence Capabilities

Indian Navy Chief Vice Admiral Krishna Swaminathan has invited private space-tech startup Skyroot Aerospace to work with the armed forces in “mission mode” and help build sovereign space capabilities. At the NDTV Defence Summit, Swaminathan highlighted the growing role of space technology in surveillance, targeting and weapon sensor fusion, and called for greater integration with domestic space companies. He said India needs to scale up space-based resources, technology and capabilities for the armed forces. Skyroot CEO Pawan Kumar Chandana outlined the growing demand for launches, including sovereign and defence requirements, as India looks to expand its space ecosystem.
