The management of Yuntai Mountain Park admitted to making a "small enhancement" during the dry season to ensure tourists would not be disappointed due to low rainfall. They emphasised seasonal changes could have affected the waterfall's appearance, and the tweak was made to maintain its beauty. Despite the controversy, some social media users expressed an understanding of the situation.

Local government officials intervened, urging the park operators to inform visitors about such enhancements in advance. The park management later issued a statement, expressing surprise at the attention and explaining the decision to aid supply through pipes was taken in the interests of visitors.
