Samsung is reportedly preparing to unveil a new pair of budget-friendly wireless earbuds called the Galaxy Buds Core. These are expected to replace the current Galaxy Buds FE as the brand’s most affordable offering. But while the upcoming model may skip some high-end features, it appears to set a new benchmark for battery life among Samsung earbuds.
As reported by 91Mobiles, the Galaxy Buds Core may feature larger batteries than the Buds FE. A listing on the Nemko certification platform has disclosed the battery capacities of both the earbuds and their charging case.
The listing shows that each earbud is equipped with a 100mAh battery, with the charging case packing a 500mAh unit. In comparison, the Galaxy Buds FE house 60mAh batteries in each earbud and a 479mAh battery in the case.
If accurate, these figures suggest the Buds Core may offer one of the longest battery lives of any Samsung earbuds to date. It could potentially outperform even the premium Galaxy Buds 3 Pro, which only carry 48mAh in each earbud, though with a slightly larger 515mAh case.
Beyond battery capacity, the design of the Buds Core may resemble the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro, including a stem-style form factor that allows for more precise touch controls. The earbuds are expected to support Bluetooth 5.0+ and come with audio codec support for AAC and SSC, enhancing audio performance even at a lower price point.
Functionality is set to include touch controls and three microphones per earbud, which should assist with call clarity. However, it remains uncertain whether the Galaxy Buds Core will feature active noise cancellation (ANC) or wireless charging, both of which are typically reserved for Samsung’s higher-end models.
According to 91Mobiles, the Samsung Galaxy Buds FE debuted in India at Rs 9,999, and their successor could be priced in a similar bracket.
Samsung is expected to officially launch the Galaxy Buds Core later this year, with further details on pricing and full features likely to emerge in the coming months.
