Harsh Mander, Founders Of ALT News Nominated For Nobel Peace Prize

The shortlisted names were presented by Henrik Urdal, director of the Peace Research Institute Oslo.

Harsh Mander, author and founder of the campaign "Karwan-e-Mohabbat", and founders of the the fact-checking website ALT News, Pratik Sinha and Muhammed Zubair, were nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize.

The award-winning Indian author was nominated by the directors of the Peace Research Institute Oslo. The shortlisted names were presented by Henrik Urdal, director of the institute.

The campaign Karwan-e-Mohabbat, meaning “Caravan of Love” was founded by Mander in 2017, to show solidarity to victims of hate crimes.

The institute said in a statement “the situation for Muslims in India has become increasingly difficult”, under the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led administration.

“Mander is an important voice for religious tolerance and dialogue," the statement said, adding the campaign is an important rallying point for those opposing inter-religious conflict and violence.
