Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley hit out at the opposition party Indian National Congress saying it is no longer a responsible political organisation.

“From a natural party of governance, it has moved to the fringe. It's policies have alienated its constituency of the poor aam aadmi”, Arun Jaitley said in a Facebook post titled ‘The squeezing out of the Congress Party'.

The Congress' “anti-reformist and anti-growth” image has distanced the party from its traditional voter base - “the poor electorate”, a space that's now been captured by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), said Jaitley. The political scandals that kept tumbling out since 2004, haven't helped the Congress either.

He also made a veiled attack at Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi, stating that the party's “dynastic succession” method of choosing its leaders over merit-based selection makes it suffer from a natural disadvantage.

Tall leaders do not grow in such parties.
