As Trump Gets Sworn In, Stock Investors May Be Swearing: Chart

(Bloomberg) -- There's a pretty good chance U.S. stocks will fall on Friday. The Dow Jones Industrial Average lost ground on 17 of the 25 trading days that coincided with presidential inauguration ceremonies since 1900. Ronald Reagan's 1985 swearing-in was the last time they rose. The data provide further evidence that equity investors like continuity: On average, stocks advanced 0.2 percent on the dozen days when sitting presidents took the oath and retreated 0.9 percent when a new guy took the helm.
