The number of the Covid-19 cases across the country reached 1,110, reported NDTV. The highest number of patients were reported in Kerala at 430, followed by 210 cases were reported in Maharashtra, 104 in Delhi, 83 in Gujarat and 69 in Tamil Nadu.
For the past week, an average of 145 new cases are being reported from across the country every day.
Foreign Secretary Shri Vikram Misri will be visiting Washington DC from 27-29 May to meet with senior officials of the US Administration. The visit is a follow up to Prime Minister’s visit to the United States in February 2025, when both sides had launched the India-U.S. COMPACT (Catalysing Opportunities for Military Partnership, Accelerated Commerce & Technology) for the 21st Century.

Both the Nifty and Sensex indices saw a positive close, each gaining 0.5% for the day. This upward movement was reflected across broader markets as well, with the Nifty Midcap 150 and Nifty Smallcap 250 also increasing by approximately 0.5%.
Leading the charge within the Nifty were Bajaj Auto and JSW Steel, emerging as the top gainers. In the Nifty Midcap 150, Linde India and Timken India were the standout performers, while BEML and Finolex Industries led the gains in the Nifty Smallcap 250.
All sectoral indices concluded the day in positive territory.

"Our aim is- no casualties. We are on alert mode," says Maharashtra Deputy CM Eknath Shinde during his visit to the Disaster Management department as 'Red' alert for heavy rains is issued for Mumbai.
Shinde said, "All agencies, including BMC, Army, and Navy, are on alert to work in coordination. The CM and the Disaster Management Minister are reviewing the situation. It is the government's duty to ensure that everything operates smoothly."
Operations on the Metro line 3 between Acharya Atre Chowk and Worli were suspended on Monday, after heavy rains inundated an underground station, officials said as per PTI.

On JSW Steel's plea on Bhushan Power and Steel's liquidation SC Bench said, "To protect the fairness of the process and avoid premature liquidation, the Supreme Court directed that a "status quo" be maintained".
Previously, on May 2, the SC had rejected the Rs 19,300 crore resolution plan.
