Robin Hood Founder Tudor Jones Has Positive Covid Test After NYC Gala

Robin Hood Foundation, the anti-poverty charity that held its annual fundraiser with more than 3,000 people at the Javits Center on Wednesday night, informed attendees that a guest tested positive for Covid-19 the following afternoon.

The person was Paul Tudor Jones, the hedge fund manager and founder of Robin Hood. He said in a statement to Bloomberg that he took a PCR test after a co-worker at his home tested positive. This was after he had a negative PCR test for Covid on Monday.

“Every person at the dinner was vaccinated and we are sharing information as we have it. I feel fine, have no temperature and am following Covid protocols. If I have inadvertently exposed anyone, I am truly and deeply sorry,” Jones said.

Those attending included luminaries from finance and real estate -- John Griffin, David Einhorn, Larry Robbins, Jeff Blau, Barry Sternlicht-- as well as the political and cultural arenas -- Eric Adams, Paul McCartney, Bruce Springsteen and Alicia Keys. Adams, the Democratic nominee for the Nov. 2 New York City mayoral election, said through a spokesman he's getting tested in response to the news.

Everyone who meets the CDC guidelines for a high-risk exposure has been personally contacted, a Robin Hood Foundation spokesman said, adding that it consulted with infectious disease experts to develop and implement the COVID-19 protocols for the event. All guests had to be fully vaccinated, submit a health declaration and were advised to wear masks when not actively eating or drinking.

About 2,600 people attended the event with the finale featuring the Jonas Brothers. There were also more than 1,000 people who were working staff and crew and were required to wear masks at all times.
