Foreign portfolio investors stayed net buyers of Indian equities for the third straight session on Tuesday, mopping up stocks worth Rs 2,301.9 crore, according to the provisional data from the National Stock Exchange.

Domestic institutional investors continued to stay net buyers for the 18th straight session as they acquired equities worth Rs 1,113.3 crore, the data showed.

The FPIs bought equity worth Rs 19,860 crore in May. In April, the overseas investors had net bought shares worth Rs 4,223 crore, according to the National Securities Depository Ltd.'s data.

In March, they had net offloaded equities worth Rs 3,973 crore, which was significantly lower as compared to the net selling of equities worth Rs 34,574 crore in February. This was preceded by net selling of Rs 78,027 crore in January.

In 2025 so far, the FPIs have net sold equities worth Rs 97,563 crore, the NSDL data showed.

India's benchmark equity indices closed flat on Tuesday, with the BSE Sensex breaking their four-session winning streak.

The NSE Nifty 50 ended 1.05 points higher at 25,104.25, while the BSE Sensex closed 53.49 points or 0.06% lower at 82,39.72. During the day, the Nifty rose 0.38% to trade at 25,199.3 and the Sensex advanced 0.29% to 82,680.79.
