Amazon has joined the quick commerce race with Tez, the company's rapid delivery arm, Samir Kumar, country manager at Amazon India, said on Tuesday. The arm will be competing against Zomato's Blinkit, Swiggy Instamart, Zepto, and BigBasket.

"We will be starting a pilot to give our customers a choice to get their everyday essentials in 15 min or less. We already have millions of customers across India, including Prime Members, who trust us and will look forward to this convenience. Stay tuned for more," Kumar said during the company's Smbhav Summit event in Delhi.

This will be the first major launch under the leadership of Kumar, who took over two months ago.

'"Amazon's commitment to India is stronger than ever," Kumar said.

Speaking at the event, Kumar also spoke about the potential of artificial intelligence for bringing change to India. He said that AI will drive the next phase of growth across sectors like healthcare, retail, and agriculture. Kumar also said that the firm has enabled $13 billion in exports and surpassed the set targets.

The e-commerce major on Tuesday also pledged its commitment to enabling $80 billion in cumulative exports from India by 2030, reported PTI. This marks the scale-up from the target of $20 billion by 2025. The announcement was made by Amit Agarwal, SVP of emerging markets at Amazon, at the event.

"Motivated by the progress that we made in driving exports out of India... we are going to advance our commitment to enable $80 billion in exports by 2030," Agarwal said.

Since its launch in 2015, Amazon Global Selling has over 150,000 registered sellers from 200-plus cities across India who are set to surpass $20 billion in cumulative exports from India by the end of 2024, according to a company blog.
