The Indian government will today release the first advance estimates for gross domestic product growth for fiscal 2017-18.

GDP for 2017-18 is expected to rise to 6.7 percent in the September ended quarter, according to consensus estimates, mildly lower than 7.1 percent last year.

The Central Statistics Office started the practice last year after the government shifted the presentation of the Union Budget to Feb. 1 from end of February. All Budget calculations are now based on the advance GDP estimates.

With the numbers slated to be release around 5:30 p.m. today, here are fourth things you need to watch out for.

  1. Will any of the quarterly GDP numbers for financial year 2017 be revised?
  2. Nascent capital formation recovery to strengthen?
  3. Does the weakness in consumer spending worsen?
  4. How are government spending related segments doing?
