GDP Revisions Shouldn't Distract From India's Strong Momentum, Says Neelkanth Mishra

India is growing below its pre-pandemic trajectory, but the economy continues to exhibit strong underlying momentum backed by a rapidly expanding workforce and resilient corporate earnings, according to World Bank Executive Director Neelkanth Mishra. Speaking to NDTV Profit, Mishra said policymakers must strike a balance between managing external capital flows and funding future growth, while cautioning that GDP data should be interpreted carefully as economic estimates are routinely revised, particularly in fast-changing economies such as India. He also expressed confidence in the RBI's ability to manage currency volatility and highlighted stronger-than-expected FCNR(B) deposit inflows.
