iPhone SE 4 Not To Launch? Apple May Roll Out This

Global predictions have it that the iPhone SE 4 launch is today, which is Wednesday. It was supposed to have been released last week, which was initially even suggested by Bloomberg columnist Mark Gurman, but that did not happen. Gurman then revealed the launch was shifted to the next week (meaning this week and ideally, Feb. 19). However, will an iPhone SE 4 launch really happen? Instead of iPhone SE 4 launch, we may actually see the launch of an iPhone 16 avatar, which is iPhone 16e.

From what has happened, been insinuated and leaked so far, all indications point to the possibility that Apple has killed off the iPhone SE 4 and in its stead, it will be rolling out another iPhone 16. The smartphone has been labelled as iPhone 16e.

A number of things point to the demise of the iPhone SE 4 and among them is the fact that the screen size of the upcoming smartphone may be 6.1 inches. iPhone SE models are known for their "mini" size of 4.7 inches. By no stretch of the imagination, even if the iPhone SE 4 gets a steroid booster shot, can that make the small phone retain its SE origins.

And then there is the likely presence of big hardware in the upcoming iPhone SE 4. This includes the A18 chip, 8GB RAM and 128GB storage - all of these are on the iPhone 16. In fact, Apple had claimed, while launching iPhone 16 that the new smartphone was built for Apple Intelligence with the all-new A18 chip. In fact, the chip also provided a big battery life boost. It said, "A18... is built on 2-generation 3-nanometer technology to further accelerate Apple Intelligence."

Notably, Apple has been in the habit of rolling out some really stunning/vibrant colors months after the launch of the flagship iPhone series. For instance there was the yellow colored iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus. These were launched back in the month of March, 2023. Apple had also launched a new green colored iPhone 13 (March, 2022) and a purple iPhone 12 (April, 2021). Get it?

Also, considering that no one nowadays wants to be seen packing a small smartphone, the fate of the SE series was likely sealed. And the skyrocketing artificial intelligence use added to the trend and then there is the fact that these little phones just could not accommodate large long-life batteries.

In case an iPhone 16e launch actually happens, the best part about it would be its likely price range. While the last iPhone SE smartphone was priced at $429, the upcoming smartphone, let's say iPhone 16e for argument's sake, is likely to hit the $499-mark.
