The advent of artificial intelligence will usher in the rise of India's sovereignty, according to Jeet Adani, Director of Adani Digital Labs.
Jeet Adani's comments came as part of his keynote address at the India AI Impact Summit 2026. In what was a packed day that saw speeches from OpenAI's Sam Altman, Alphabet's Sundar Pichai and even Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Adani delivered an important note on how AI will uplift sovereignty across sectors for India.
"AI is going to redefine sovereignty. Inclusion without capability is weakness and capability without sovereignty is foreign dependence," he said.
Jeet Adani went on to list three key metrics of sovereignty that could decide what he calls India's AI century. He mentioned energy sovereignty, computer and cloud sovereignty, as well as services sovereignty, as the three main pillars.
"AI is written in code. But it runs on electricity... energy security is intelligence security. And sustainable energy becomes a competitive advantage," he said, outlining plans to integrate renewable energy clusters with AI data centres and industrial corridors.
On computing infrastructure, he added, "Cloud sovereignty does not mean isolation. It means autonomy... India must host critical AI workloads domestically... domestic access to high-performance compute for our startups, academia, defence, healthcare, and manufacturing."
He added that India is not involved in the field to dominate but to stabilise, assuring that any invention built by the nation will not be used for destruction.
"India does not rise to dominate; she rises to stabilise, to anchor a world searching for balance, build systems that are inclusive and enduring. When India builds tech, she does not build for exclusion and control; she builds for inclusion," he added.
Jeet Adani's comments come in the midst of a $100 billion commitment to build sovereign infrastructure.
"The question is no longer whether India will participate in the AI century. The question is whether the AI century will carry India's imprint in its infrastructure, in her intelligence, in her standards, and most importantly - in her values. I believe - deeply and without hesitation - that she will," he said. "Just as electricity-powered industry oil reshaped geopolitics, the internet transformed commerce, "artificial intelligence will redefine sovereignty".
