Like a Tracer Bullet: Commentator List Revealed By ICC For ICC T20 World Cup — Details Inside

Cricket's most iconic moments are often inseparable from the voices that called them. On February 6, the ICC announced the voices that will set about narrating the next chapter of the sport's shortest global showpiece the Men's T20 World Cup 2026.

The ICC have assembled a star-studded panel of former players, seasoned broadcasters and a few eye-catching additions that includes current South Africa captain Temba Bavuma, who will step into the commentary box after helping his nation end a 27-year wait for a global trophy at the World Test Championship Finals last year.

The panel features a familiar roll call of seasoned global broadcast heavyweights such as Ravi Shastri, Nasser Hussain, Ian Smith, Ian Bishop, Harsha Bhogle, Michael Atherton, Wasim Akram, Matthew Hayden, Sunil Gavaskar, Shaun Pollock, Waqar Younis, Dale Steyn and Simon Doull.

Adding a new layer of expertise the ICC have also included former T20 World Cup winners and modern-day T20 specialists such as Aaron Finch, Dinesh Karthik, Robin Uthappa, Carlos Brathwaite and Samuel Badree.

The inclusion of Bavuma stands out as one of the more intriguing talking points from the list. It's rare that we see a current international captain take on an official ICC commentary role, and his presence is likely to add a fresh, in-the-trenches perspective on tactics, pressure moments and modern T20 leadership.

Sri Lanka's Angelo Mathews, another World Cup-winning captain, also features on the panel, continuing the trend started by the ICC in recent years of blending recently active players with veteran voices.

The expanded line-up by the ICC reflects their push to balance experience with contemporary insight gained from recently active players as T20 cricket continues to evolve rapidly.

The ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 which will be the 10th edition of the global Twenty20 championship is set to get underway from February 7 to March 8. The tournament is co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka with a total of 20 teams will compete across 55 matches.

Eight venues have been shortlisted for the event with five in India and three in Sri Lanka, culminating in the final on March 8, scheduled to be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The two semifinals will be played in Kolkata and Mumbai.

However, with Pakistan not playing any of their games in India, Colombo has been earmarked as a replacement venue should they reach the semis and finals.
