A suspected meteorite crashed through the roof of a house in Houston, US, according to reports, citing locals and officials. Houston resident Sherrie James said that her grandson went to investigate the development and noticed a hole in their ceiling, which led to her noticing the rock and noting its resemblance to a meteorite.
The local fire department informed her that they had received reports regarding a meteor over north Houston which had blown up into many fragments. James said that she initially thought that they were shards that fell off of an aeroplane.

"Eyewitnesses in Texas observed a bright fireball today … at [4.40pm local time]. Current data indicates that the meteor became visible at 49 miles above Stagecoach, north-west of Houston. It moved south-east at 35,000mph, breaking apart 29 miles above Bammel, just west of Cypress Station," US's National Aeronautics And Space Administration (NASA) said in a post on social media platform 'X'.

“The fragmentation of the meteor – which weighed about a ton with a diameter of 3 feet – created a pressure wave that caused booms heard by some in the area. Doppler weather radar also showed meteorites produced between Willowbrook and Northgate Crossing," it added.
Spring residents reported hearing a noise resembling thunder, shortly after spotting the fireball arising from the meteor despite there being clear skies in the area.
