Stock Market Highlights: Sensex Gains 260 Points, Nifty Closes Above 24,600 On Positive Global Cue
The NSE Nifty 50 ended 77 points or 0.32% higher at 24,620, while the BSE Sensex closed 260.74 points or 0.32% up at 80,998.

The benchmark equity indices closed higher on Wednesday, ending a three-day losing streak.
The NSE Nifty 50 ended 77 points or 0.32% higher at 24,620, while the BSE Sensex closed 260.74 points or 0.32% up at 80,998. During the day, the Nifty rose 0.41% to trade at 24,644.25 and the Sensex rose 0.43% to trade at 81,087.29.
"Post the knee-jerk reaction in the opening trade, the Index gradually soared higher to conclude the trade at 24,620.20 with gains of 77.70 points. Except for the Realty sector, all of the others settled trade in the green...," said Aditya Gaggar, Director of Progressive Shares.







Shares of Eternal Ltd., Jio Financial Services Ltd. and IndusInd Bank Ltd. were the top gainers.
Bajaj Finserv Ltd. and Trent Ltd. were among the biggest laggards.

In terms of points contribution, HDFC Bank Ltd. and Reliance Industries Ltd. were among stocks that led the gains in the index.
ICICI Bank and Axis Bank Ltd. dragged the index the most.

On the NSE, 14 out of the 15 sectors ended in the green, with the Nifty Defence, Oil & Gas and Metal among the top performers.

In the broader market, the BSE MidCap and SmallCap outperformed the Sensex as the MidCap ended 0.80% higher and SmallCap gained 0.55%.
The market breadth was skewed in favour of buyers, as 1,178 stocks advanced, 934 declined and 18 remained unchanged on the BSE.
