In total, the exchange saw 268 successful IPOs, out of which 90 are in mainboard listing and 178 are the IPOs of small and medium enterprises last year and raised Rs. 1.67 lakhs crores. However, the biggest IPO at NSE remained that of Hyundai Motor India Ltd, worth over Rs. 27 thousand crore, which was also the second biggest in the world.
Globally, a total of 1145 IPOs were raised in 2024, out of which NSE was involved with 268. Meanwhile, the Shanghai Stock Exchange facilitated 101 IPOs, followed by the Japan Exchange Group with 93 IPOs. This was closely chased by the Hong Kong Stock Exchange with 66 IPOs.
"The record number of IPOs during this calendar year highlights the resilience and potential of the Indian economy. Companies across various sectors are recognising the value of public markets to support their growth strategies,” as per Sriram Krishnan, Chief Business Development Officer at NSE.
As reported earlier, along with the IPO boom, India's markets also saw qualified institutional placements worth Rs 1.34 lakh crore in 2024. This means nearly 160% growth on a year-on-year basis.
2024 remained to be a stellar year for the exchange as its investors grew by Rs. 2.3 crores to a total of Rs. 10.9 crores, which is the highest increase ever seen by an exchange in one year. It is important to note that the growth of the investor base of states like Uttar Pradesh and Bihar even exceeded that of Maharashtra.
