Bajaj Auto Ltd.'s sales for the month of April remained flat on a year-on-year basis even as exports outperformed for the third month in a row.
Overall sales dipped 0.1 percent to 3,29,800 units, the company said in an exchange filing. With the marginal decline in April, Bajaj Auto's sales have fallen five times in the last six months.
The company's struggles in the domestic market continued with sales declining 21 percent to 1,77,887 units. Exports improved for the third straight month, rising 46 percent to 1,51,913 vehicles.
Segmental Performance
- Motorcycle sales in India declined 19 percent to 1,61,930 units.
- Commercial vehicles sales in India slumped 38 percent to 15,957 units.
- Motorcycle exports grew 44 percent to 1,32,002 units.
- Commercial vehicle exports grew 59 percent to 19,911 units.
Shares of Bajaj Auto rose as much as 1.64 percent to Rs 2,945.4 before cooling to Rs 2,920 as of 10:20 a.m.
