The British celebrity chef was in Mumbai on a food trail to remember.

Believe it or not, celebrity chef Nigella Lawson was in Mumbai and she tried out some of our favourite food joints. And guess what? She loved vada pavs.

The British chef took to Instagram to share her love for our desi food. She shared a delicious picture of vada pav and said it was the best thing she has eaten in 2017. The 57-year-old chef made sure it was an hush-hush affair as she flew in and out in just two days. She's currently visiting the Kerala backwaters and shared a video from there as well.

Best thing I've eaten in 2017: the vada pav at Ladoo Samrat after the wonderful @nfpexplore Dawn Tour of Mumbai. Vada pav are unfeasibly light spiced potato patties, fried crisp in gram flour batter, to be squished into soft bread rolls. Also eaten here , to great delight: poha, flattened rice, thali peeth, multigrain fried bread, and Sabudana khichdi, which is sago. But that's not where it ended. Like a real traveller, she ate at places known for their traditional and authentic recipes even as she visited Maximum City's iconic landmarks. She started off by visiting the gorgeous Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus.

Nigella and her Love for Pav Bhaji

More of the joys of Mumbai street food: pav bhaji from Sardar; think of it as a vegetarian sloppy joe. They're famous at Sardar for the amount of butter they use. And you can see why. And that doesn't indicate the amount they add while cooking this intense, tomatoey potato and vegetable mush. And most marvellous mush it is. #latergram #sardar #pavbhaji #butter #mumbai #mumbaistreetfood #india #love
