Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali's ambitious project Love & War has finally received a confirmed release date after months of speculation and repeated postponements. Starring Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal, the film is now set to hit theatres on January 21, 2027.
The official announcement was shared by Bhansali Productions on Instagram, which read, "#SanjayLeelaBhansali's #LOVEandWAR starring #RanbirKapoor, @aliaabhatt & @vickykaushal09 In cinemas on 21st January 2027 ????❤️."
The much-anticipated film has faced several delays since its announcement. It was initially planned for a Christmas 2025 release, but the date was later pushed to March 20, 2026. Reports then suggested another shift to August 14, 2026. After multiple changes, the makers have now locked an early 2027 release, bringing some clarity to eager fans waiting for updates.
Despite the uncertainty around its release, Love & War has continued to generate buzz, especially through glimpses from its sets. Over the past year, several behind-the-scenes images have surfaced online, giving fans a sneak peek into the film's scale and aesthetic. One widely shared image featured Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal dressed in detailed Air Force uniforms, standing next to a fighter jet. With matching moustaches, aviator sunglasses and a sharp, composed look, the actors appeared to fully embody their roles as officers, giving a glimpse of the film's setting and tone.

Love & War marks the first time Bhansali is bringing Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal together on screen. It is said to revolve around a layered love triangle set against a backdrop of duty and conflict. Ranbir and Vicky reportedly play Air Force officers, while Alia's character is caught in an emotional dilemma between love and responsibility.
For Ranbir Kapoor, the project also marks a reunion with Bhansali after his debut film Saawariya. Their earlier collaboration had introduced Ranbir to the industry, making this reunion particularly significant.
With its star-studded cast, grand scale and Bhansali's signature storytelling style, Love & War is already one of the most awaited films in the coming years. Now that the release date is officially set, expectations are only expected to grow as the film moves closer to completion.
