Zinke Escalates Spat With Patagonia Over Shrinking of Monuments

(Bloomberg) -- Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke fired back at Patagonia Inc. after the outdoor gear retailer changed its website to show a simple message: "The President Stole Your Land."

The maker of recycled cashmere sweaters and fair-trade certified jackets is protesting the Trump administration's move to shrink a pair of national monuments in Utah. But Zinke, in an interview with Fox News, criticized it as an example of companies "that make their products in other places on foreign shores."

The company says it "played a part" in the establishment of national monuments including the Bears Ears National Monument, which President Donald Trump said Monday would be cut from 1.4-million acres to about 220,000 acres.
