Nearly 25 years after the demolition of the Babri Mosque in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, the land dispute continues to be argued in courtrooms.

In an exclusive interview, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath tells BloombergQuint's Sanjay Pugalia that he'd like to see the issue to be resolved via talks, a development that “will boost India's democracy”.

The final hearings on a daily basis will commence in the Supreme Court on December 5. Adityanath says he is “confident of, given the facts and public sentiment, a respectable decision by the Supreme Court soon”.

The Uttar Pradesh government is not party to the case, Adityanath rushes to point out, adding that the city of Ayodhya, along with Agra and Varanasi, will be developed into tourism hubs.
