Hungary’s Orban to Pull Party From EPP Caucus, Nemzet Reports

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban's party will quit the parliamentary caucus of the European Union's largest political group on Wednesday, pro-government Magyar Nemzet newspaper reported without citing anyone.

The parliamentary group of the European People's Party is scheduled to vote within hours to amend its internal rules, clearing the way for the suspension of Orban's Fidesz party.

That would expand the center-right umbrella group's 2019 suspension of Fidesz to its European Parliament members. It's not clear whether Orban, who's clashed with EU partners over his erosion of the rule of law, would also quit the EPP party or only its parliamentary group.
