(Bloomberg) -- French presidential candidate Francois Fillon's wife Penelope is in custody while a search is ongoing, Mediapart reported on Twitter, citing sources close to Fillon's party.
Fillon has said he'll make an announcement at 12pm in Paris after postponing a planned visit to the Paris agricultural fair Wednesday. Campaign officials have so far declined to comment. The candidate has been under investigation for mis-use of public money in the employment of his wife as a parliamentary assistant.
