Atishi, who replaced Arvind Kejriwal as Delhi's chief minister after his resignation last year, filed her affidavit for contesting in the upcoming Delhi assembly elections. Her income doubled to Rs 9.62 lakh in financial year 2023-24 compared to Rs 4.72 lakh in 2022-23, the poll affidavit showed.

Delhi is scheduled to vote in a single phase on Feb. 5, 2025, and the results will be announced on Feb. 8.

As per Atishi's affidavit, she owns 10 grams of gold jewellery worth Rs 1 lakh, and possesses no motor vehicles, bonds, debentures or mutual funds.

Atishi's affidavit revealed that she owns around Rs 76.93 lakh of movable assets while there were no immovable assets registered under her name. She will be contesting the elections from the Kalkaji seat in South Delhi, locking horns against Ramesh Bidhuri of the Bharatiya Janta Party and Alka Lamba of Congress.

In the 2020 assembly elections, Atishi had won the Kalkaji seat by defeating her nearest BJP rival Dharambir Singh by a margin of over 10,000 votes.

Atishi completed her early education from Springdales School in Delhi and received her master's degree from the prestigious St. Stephen's College from Delhi University. In 2003, she obtained her master's degree from Oxford University in History.

Before joining politics, Atishi taught history and English at Rishi Valley School in Andhra Pradesh.
