The Bharatiya Janata Party is losing ground in urban India, according to initial trends from counting of votes in the recently concluded elections in five states.
The BJP lost Indore, Raipur and Jaipur—its traditional strongholds—while it managed to hold on to Bhopal. “It's in line with the growing urban apathy with regards to the price increases,” political analyst Amitabh Tiwari told BloombergQuint.
