(Bloomberg) -- Bitcoin surpassed gold on Thursday amid a record rally that's seen the cryptocurrency surge 32 percent this year as investors speculated on a more relaxed regulatory environment under President Donald Trump. The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission is expected to rule on a proposal for an exchange-traded fund based on the digital currency by March 11.
