Tata Systems, Bell Helicopters Join Forces For Aviation and Defence Growth
Tata Advanced Systems Ltd and Bell Helicopters signed an agreement to work for the modernisation of Indian aviation and defence sectors, with an emphasis on the Make in India drive.
The alliance will develop commercial and government rotary wing markets, including military helicopters in the Light Utility and Reconnaissance segment, a joint press release stated.
The agreement aims to include production and assembly capacity, provide training and maintenance, and fulfil repair and overhaul requirements, the release added.
Along with the provisions, the agreement also expects to strengthen industrial capabilities of the sector through research and development programmes, and technology sharing.
The deal will add to the company's already existing partnerships in the helicopter market and enable them to provide a complete range of products to potential buyers, S Ramadorai, Chairman of TASL, said in the joint release.
TASL has previously undertaken projects in aerospace with the likes of Sikorsky, Lockheed Martin, Boeing and Rolls-Royce.
Mitch Snyder, CEO and President of Bell Helicopters, said that the company will develop helicopters specifically to suit Indian demands with the help of Tata Systems.
