Tata Motor's Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) will introduce mild hybrids, plug-in hybrids and battery electric vehicles in its effort to cultivate environment friendly automotive technology.

India's largest car-maker, the company plans to invest Rs 39,800 crore for the development of new automobile technology in 2016-17 versus last year's Rs 32,000 crore, it said in its annual report for 2015-16.

The report does not specify the timeline of the introduction of these vehicles.

“Clean Power'' vehicles such as Tata's Starbus Hybrid and Ultra Electric bus were earlier displayed at the Auto Expo 2016 in New Delhi. Both vehicles showcased Tata's zero-emission technology.

JLR's top competitors in the segment include companies like Mercedes, Audi, Tesla and BMW, among others.
