(Bloomberg) -- The last Monday in September would be a federal holiday to recognize Gold Star Family members' sacrifice when a loved one dies in service, under a bipartisan bill introduced by Senators Elizabeth Warren and Joni Ernst.
“Gold Star Families make incredible sacrifices for our country, and that's why I'm introducing Gold Star Families Day Act with Senator Ernst - to honor and respect the painful sacrifice that continually lives with the families of our fallen heroes,” Warren said in a statement.
Warren and Ernst are both members of the Senate Armed Services Committee. Cosponsors of the legislation include Republicans Tom Cotton, Marsha Blackburn, and Cindy Hyde-Smith and Democrats Ron Wyden, Mark Kelly, and Jacky Rosen.
