(Bloomberg) -- Sea turtles off the Texas coast are threatened by a “major cold stunning event” that can paralyze and wash them ashore as an Arctic outbreak descends on the state, the U.S. Coast Guard is warning.
Commercial shippers have been asked to voluntarily suspend operations in a coastal estuary known as the Laguna Madre that stretches from Corpus Christi to the border with Mexico, according to a Coast Guard notice issued on Wednesday. The voluntary suspension would commence on Saturday and last through Feb. 7.
