Resolve members grievance in a fortnight: EPFO to field offices

In a bid to improve the quality of its services, retirement fund body EPFO has reduced stipulated time limit for resolving its subscribers' grievances to 15 days from existing 30 days. "Time limit fixed for resolving grievances in respect of 108 field offices has been reduced to 15 days instead of earlier 30 days," an official statement stated here. Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has 123 field offices all over the country which provide services to over five crore subscribers. According to an officials the 15 offices where the time of resolving grievances has been kept 30 days as per EPFO's citizen charter include Gurgaon, Noida, Delhi South, Delhi North, Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Pune, Bandra, Thane, Kandivili, Bommasandra and Pambaram. "These 15 offices have large number of subscribers base and it will take some time to reduce to grievances settlement time to a fortnight," he added. During November, the grievances received have reduced to 13,000 against earlier monthly average of 16,000 and 109 field offices do not have even a single case pending for more than 30 days. The body stated that as many as 13,672 grievances disposed in November leaving a balance of 4,984 grievances pending at the end of the month. Earlier average grievance pendency was 25,000. According to recent review of the progress of work by the EPFO's Central Provident Fund Commissioner K K Jalan, the body has settled 10.82 lakh claims, including withdrawal of EPF and pension in November. During the current fiscal till November end, the body has settled EPFO settled around 80 lakh claims and 98 per cent of the these claims were settled within the mandatory time limit of 30 days. EPFO has effected more than 93 per cent of the payments through NEFT till November. The statement stated that about 30 per cent of the claims settled within three days on all India basis and 62 per cent within 10 days by the EPFO. Many offices across the country including Udaipur, Laxmi Nagar (Delhi), Agra, Siddipet, Gwalior, Jabalpur, Ujjain, Vapi, etc are settling more than 90 per cent of the claims within three days, it added. EPFO had launched the facility online PF transfer claims on October 2 this year. More than 4,000 transfer claims have been received under newly launched On-line Transfer Claim Portal so far, it said.
