RBI to Issue Rs 10 Notes in Mahatma Gandhi Series Soon

Chandigarh: The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Tuesday said it will shortly issue bank notes in Rs 10 denomination in the Mahatma Gandhi Series-2005.

The apex bank will incorporate the rupee symbol on the obverse and reverse, with inset letter 'M' in both the numbering panels and the year of printing '2014' printed on the reverse of the banknote, the RBI said in its release issued in Chandigarh.

The design of notes to be issued now is similar in all respects to the Rs 10 banknotes in the Mahatma Gandhi series- 2005 issued earlier, it said.

All the banknotes in the denomination of Rs 10 issued by the bank in the past will continue to be legal tender, it noted.
