(Bloomberg) -- Portugal said hydropower production may be halted at some dams amid low winter rainfall.
The dams where hydropower generation may be affected when certain levels of storage are reached are Alto Lindoso, Touvedo, Alto Rabagao, Vilar-Tabuaco, Cabril and Castelo de Bode, the Portuguese environment ministry said in an emailed statement on Tuesday. Separately, the use of water for irrigation has been halted at the Bravura dam.
In November, Portugal's remaining coal-fired plant stopped producing electricity as planned.
