Currently, petrol and diesel prices vary in different parts of the country due to local taxes. State-run oil marketing companies Indian Oil Corporation, Bharat Petroleum Corporation and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation - which account for the majority of fuel stations in the country -Â review the fuel rates on a daily basis.
The three implement any changes in domestic fuel prices with effect from 6 am, aligning them with crude oil and rupee-dollar forex rates.
Meanwhile, crude oil prices eased on Friday, as rising COVID-19 cases in Europe and the US heightened concerns over the outlook for fuel consumption. Global benchmark Brent futures fell 0.50 per cent to $37.46 per barrel on Friday.
The rupee ended 0.32 per cent lower at 74.11 against the US dollar.
