After the second fine imposed by India's competition watchdog, Google on Wednesday said it was committed to its users and developers and that the firm's model had "powered India's digital transformation and expanded access for hundreds of millions of Indians, according to an ANI tweet.
On Tuesday, the Competition Commission of India (CCI) fined Google Rs 936.44 crore for the second time in less than a week, taking the total penalty to ₹ 2,274 core, for misusing its dominant position about Play Store policy and ordered the tech giant to stop engaging in unfair commercial practises.
In response, a Google spokesperson on Wednesday said, "we remain committed to our users and developers and are reviewing the decision to evaluate the next steps," according to a tweet by ANI.

Google's spokesperson added, "Indian developers have benefited from tech, security, consumer protections & unrivalled choice and flexibility that Android & Google Play provide. Last week, on Friday, the CCI tweeted it fined Google Rs 1,337 crore for "abusing dominant position in multiple markets in the Android mobile device ecosystem."
Similar to the latest statement, in response, Google had said the Indian antitrust watchdog's decision to fine the company for alleged anti-competitive practices was "a major setback for Indian consumers and businesses" and that it would review the decision to evaluate next steps.
"Android has created more choices for everyone and supports thousands of successful businesses in India and around the world. The CCI's decision is a major setback for Indian consumers and businesses, opening serious security risks for Indians who trust Android's security features and raising the cost of mobile devices for Indians. We will review the decision to evaluate the next steps," a Google spokesperson had said on Friday.
