Ola's Bhavish Aggarwal To Focus On Tech; GR Arun Kumar To Manage Operations
Ola Founder and Chief Executive Officer Bhavish Aggarwal on Tuesday announced that the company would deepen its focus on technology and engineering to "accelerate ambitious new projects like our car, cell and gigafactory". Mr Aggarwal said he would be assisted by the ride-hailing giant's current Chief Financial Officer (CFO) GR Arun Kumar to manage day-to-day operations.
In a tweet with some snapshots of articles, the Ola Founder wrote: "Reads like I'm retiring! Not true. Arun is a great leader & he'll help me manage Ola's ops operations). We will accelerate ambitious new projects like our car, cell, gigafactory etc. & deepen focus on tech & engineering. More soon."

Doubling down on building the future here in India, at Ola! pic.twitter.com/rio290Pa75In December last year, news agency Reuters reported quoting Mr Aggarwal that Ola plans to go public in the first half (H1) of 2022. The cab-aggregator is backed by Japan's SoftBank Group.
Ola, which has a majority share of India's ride-hailing market, has plans to raise around $1 billion through an initial public offering (IPO).
Mr Aggarwal had also stated that the company is in process of creating a "super app" to broaden its services beyond mobility. He also has plans to list Ola's separate electric vehicle business in the future.
Ola plans to launch an electric car next year and set up a local battery cell manufacturing.
Recently, the company has come under criticism after an Ola electric scooter caught fire in Pune. The Centre has ordered a probe into the incident.
