ITC Ltd. is moving towards elevating its chief operating officer (COO) Sanjiv Puri as chief executive officer and plans to split the post of executive chairman between chairman and chief executive officer after YC Deveshwar steps aside on 5 February.
The conglomerate has nominated current chief operating officer Sanjiv Puri to take over as the next CEO, it said in a stock exchange filing on Tuesday. It will take up the matter on January 27, when ITC announces its third quarter earnings.
In the context of splitting up of the role of the Executive Chairman of the Company between Chairman and Chief Executive Officer with effect from 5th February, 2017, to consider and recommend to the Board of Directors the appointment of Mr. Sanjiv Puri as Chief Executive Officer of the Company with effect from that date.ITC Stock Exchange Filing
Puri was appointed as the COO after leading the FMCG business of ITC as president from December 2014.
