The Sensex rose 7.4% in Samvat 2074 - the year from Diwali 2017 to Diwali 2018
At 6:10 pm, the Nifty traded 76 points, or 0.7 per cent, higher at 10,606 and the Sensex was up 274 points, or 0.8 per cent, at 35,266.
Top gainers on the 50-scrip index, Nifty, were auto maker Mahindra & Mahindra, state-run oil companies Hindustan Petroleum and Bharat Petroleum, and information technology major Infosys, trading between 1.4 per cent and 1.9 per cent higher.
