Shahid Kapoor-starrer Haider, which is an adaptation of William Shakespeare's Hamlet has got off to a decent start at the box office, grossing Rs 6.14 crore on its first day, according to Bollywood website koimoi.com.
Haider, directed by Vishal Bharadwaj released on Thursday which was a holiday on account of Gandhi Jayanti.
"Haider was helped by positive reviews by critics and strong word of mouth, which pushed its collections especially in evening shows and night shows," the koimoi report said.
Haider did well in Bangalore, Mysore, Mumbai and Pune, Rajasthan, West Bengal and parts of Punjab on its first day.
Haider's cast includes Shahid Kapoor, Shraddha Kapoor, Tabu, and Kay Kay Menon.
Haider is being appreciated by critics and people alike.
