Eicher Motors Ltd. registered a 19 percent jump in motorcycle sales in February, driven by strong demand for bikes with engine capacity of up to 350 cc.
Total sales rose to 58,439 bikes from 49,156 in February 2016, according to the company's filing on the stock exchanges.
Sales of bikes with engine capacity of up to 350 cc jumped 25 percent to 54,571 units. This offset the 29 percent fall in sales of models with engine capacity exceeding 350 cc.
Exports grew 7 percent to 1,702 vehicles compared to 1,589 units in the same month last year.
Shares of Eicher Motor rose as much as 1.12 percent to Rs 24,400 after the announcement, before falling to Rs 24,110 as of 12 p.m.
