DGCA Not Conducting Safety Audit, Says SpiceJet
SpiceJet today claimed aviation regulator DGCA has not ordered any safety audit of the company and it has complied with all the regulations.
"We would like to state categorically that there is no safety audit that has been ordered on the company by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA)," the company said in a filing to the BSE.
It further said that safety and security of operations was of utmost importance to the company. "We are fully compliant of all the safety regulations," SpiceJet said.
DGCA has directed within a fortnight a safety audit of SpiceJet after finding "serious engineering issues" with some of its aircraft in the Boeing 737 fleet of SpiceJet.
One of the flights of SpiceJet was delayed by 5 hours and DGCA asked the no-frills carrier to refund fare to all passengers of the Mumbai-Delhi flight.
The aviation regulator also asked the airline to refund the money it charged from passengers of this delayed flight by selling food and beverages, instead of offering it free in accordance with the laid-down rules.
